IB Candidate School
Ascensia International School is now a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We are now pursuing authorization as an IB World School, to start teaching the PYP and the MYP in 2020.
The IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
The IB has developed various challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment, to encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB PYP, for children aged 3 – 12, nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Through its inquiry-led, transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.
The IB MYP is a programme which emphasizes intellectual challenge. It encourages students aged 11 – 16 to make practical connection between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life. The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education – that we believe is important for our students and your children.
